Critical Thinking and Education: Questions to Consider

Here are a few questions about the readings and video to think about before class:

  • What is the link between critical thinking and information?
  • Why is it so important to teach students how to fact-check and locate reliable information?
  • Do you think being “digital natives” helps or hurts us?
  • What does standardized testing suggest about information?
  • When is accessing information not enough? What good is information if you have it but don’t know how to use it?

One Response to Critical Thinking and Education: Questions to Consider

  1. Andrew Battista says:

This are all great questions, and almost more than we can talk about in one day (as per usual)! I think the one about digital natives is particularly interesting, and I don’t know what I think about it. On the one hand, one’s status as a “digital native” often means much greater ability to find information, especially on online platforms. Yet on the other hand, digital natives often have a detachment from the ability to evaluate information sources. I think one of the articles we read touched on this.

It’s also hard for me to answer this because I am on the cusp of being a digital native.
