The academic writing genre is an exercise in power. It relies on an argumentative stance, a linear written format, and the author’s presumed authority based on degree and university affiliation. Throughout the semester, we will be discussing alternatives to this genre.
For the Bizzaro Research “Paper,” you will create something. Choose a topic, perform some research on it (we will discuss this more in class), and develop an opinion/intervention/rhizomatic limb/etc based on what you’ve read and how you feel about it. In lieu of a paper, you can create absolutely anything else–a poem, a comic strip, an art piece…anything you can imagine! Your creation must respond to your research and communicate your opinion/intervention/rhizomatic limb/etc. We will discuss topic ideas in class on 2/5. Complete this creation for class on 2/26.
