Who creates information? What information gets produced and circulated, and what information does not? Who has access to information, and how can the dissemination of information be an instrument of social control, inside and outside of the academy? This course on the Politics of Information encourages students to understand how the creation and consumption of information affects gender or race identity and class stratification. As we explore current events related to information access, we will practice research and critical thinking skills and articulate some of the ethical issues related to producing and consuming information.
