Description
Virginia Barnes is a former faculty member of the University of Montevallo. Barnes was a printmaker and painter in her profession of art.
This print has many variations in color seen in different leaf shapes. The different colorations include red, green, yellow, and brown. The colors are meant to evoke seasonal change. The leaves were probably studied in the season of autumn. The wood-block print depicts all vertical leaf shapes that are organically developed. This work of art is horizontally oriented.
There are 50 prints made of this particular piece. This specific print is the first in its edition. There are inscriptions, markings, and signatures on this art work. Leaf Shapes, Wood-Block 1/50, Virginia Barnes and 1975 are all written and signed at the bottom of the image.
