Text Any textual data included in the document One interview that I had did with was a female student at the University of Montevallo. She went to Bibb County High School with a graduating class of about a little over 300 people. This public-school system is in a rural environment because there was always a lot of trees and no cell phone service in Bibb County. She first dropped out of high school in 2011 as a senior and went to go get her GED. Next, she stayed with her roommate in Chilton County until she moved to Montevallo in 2016. That’s when she also decided to go the University of Montevallo during the fall semester of 2016. She was a first-generation college student and she was undecided in her major so she started off just taking general classes on an everyday basis. What influenced her to go to college was her fiancé who she has two kids with because she wanted to have a better life for her kid’s future. She likes college night but she does not attend college night, rather she likes just hearing the many different conclusions about it from other students at Montevallo. She is a purple side fan and she loves going to the tavern not only for their parties on Thursday nights, but she also likes their many different foods that they sell on the dinner menus. She currently does not work because her man takes care of all the bills so she acts like a house wife to take care of her husband and her two sons; however, she is currently 16 weeks pregnant with her second boy. Her first son is a little over seven months old so she lets her grandparents to keep the kids while she is at school. She plans on taking up a major working on the photography area because she loves to take pictures and do different designs. Text Any textual data included in the document Miss. Anne E. Kennedy, daughter of Josiah S. Kennedy and his wife Ann Eliza McNeill, served as the Department of English’s first chair. A native of Centreville, Alabama and one of 11 children she is credited as the school’s first faculty member, elected to her position in the spring of 1912, and is described in the 1921 Technala as “an able, popular, conscientious, and long experienced Alabama teacher.” (131) The Kennedy House of Centreville was her parent’s home and still stands today (images are available on the Alabama Department of Archives and History website). She was one of 11 children. Her employment included private schools In her hometown and Union Springs, Alabama, at the East Tennessee Institute in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her longest tenure was with the Alabama Technical Institute and College for Women. At the time she took the position the department was the Department of English and History, with the two disciplines taught by many of the same teachers. Miss. Kennedy herself taught English, history, and elocution. Also active in the community, she was a charter member of the Montevallo Branch of the Southern Association of College Women, a member and one time president of the Montevallo Studiosis, and was a member of the General Josiah Gorgas Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Kennedy and his wife Ann Eliza McNeill, served as the Department of English’s first chair. A native of Centreville, Alabama and one of 11 children she is credited as the school’s first faculty member, elected to her position in the spring of 1912, and is described in the 1921 Technala as “an able, popular, conscientious, and long experienced Alabama teacher.” (131) The Kennedy House of Centreville was her parent’s home and still stands today (images are available on the Alabama Department of Archives and History website). She was one of 11 children. Her employment included private schools In her hometown and Union Springs, Alabama, at the East Tennessee Institute in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her longest tenure was with the Alabama Technical Institute and College for Women. At the time she took the position the department was the Department of English and History, with the two disciplines taught by many of the same teachers. Miss. Kennedy herself taught English, history, and elocution. Also active in the community, she was a charter member of the Montevallo Branch of the Southern Association of College Women, a member and one time president of the Montevallo Studiosis, and was a member of the General Josiah Gorgas Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
