<text>HS: I went to Enterprise High School, large school, most of the people I know went to college
How you hear about Montevallo: I was looking at colleges in Alabama and I stumbled on to Montevallo and I found out I really liked it
Major: Coming in I wanted to be an Marketing Major
Parents Impact: It was always college for me, didn't have another option
First Choice: Montevallo has always been my one and only choice
Any Fears: I'm gonna be a little bit far from home, so I don't know how that will go
Dates: I got here August 2015
First Day: It was amazing, I made so many friends that day
First Day of classes: Good, I even though I'm a business major, I really enjoyed my theatre course.
Where do you live?: I live in Tutwiler
Any clubs: I'm in "I am second" which is a Christian club about putting god first
PV or GV: I'm GV and we are going to win this weekend (again)
Best moment on campus so far: The lift raft debate, to see teachers roasting each other were very exciting
Most looking forward to? I'm looking forward to graduating because I'm so close!

MN: This interview did not go as well as I planned. She wasn't very interested in the interview at all so I tried to make it go as quick as possible to make it be as painless as it can be for the both of us. The interview questions were boring and mundane, but she was giving good answers partly because she wanted the interview to be done as soon as possible. I wish there was more to take away from this interview, but I was not given a lot of content to work with.
TN: My theory on how the interview went is that it went bad. Very bad. I tried to keep an upbeat attitude about the interview because I know that would help the interview go along faster and that at least I could salvage some content about the interview. One interesting thing I learned is that people don’t generally have a lot of say about clubs unless that have been involved in it for a very long time. When I asked her about the clubs she was involved in "I am second" all she could tell me about it is that it's about god.
PN: The person who I interviewed is by far the worst person I've interviewed. She was only focused on her phone and texting her boyfriend, so she was giving me half-assed answers. If she wasn't willing to put in the effort with the interview, it was hard for me to give a damn as well. It was also the middle of the day on Friday, so I was feeling that mid-day malaise, so I was trying really hard to get things done but my mind was focused on getting lunch, something that I had not done beforehand.
SN: She went to Enterprise high school and it's one of the biggest schools in the state. She heard about Montevallo through looking at school in Alabama and from that point she was hooked. She's a marketing major. Her parents have always told her college or bust, and there is no in-between about what her life would look like right after high school. Her main fear in coming to Montevallo is that she would be so far from home and that she would have to look after herself. But once she got on campus she loved it. She loved her first day on campus as well as her first day of classes because she signed up for Theater courses. She lives in Tutweiler and She involved in the club "I am second" which is a club about god. She is a Gold, she's had a really good couple of years, and she's looking forward to finally getting out of college.

              <text>Interview 1
HS: I went to Selma High School, a very rural school, very few people went to college
Hear about UM?: I was watching YouTube and an ad for the school showed up on my phone
UM First Choice: Originally my first choice was going to be Auburn, but I ended up hating the camps.
Declared Major: I came in as a Political Science Major
Why did you come to UM: I loved the campus, the bricks really helped the flow of the campus.
What was the final factor: When I saw college night, the performances were beautiful
Any Fears: I had never been on my own for a long stretch of time
Dates: I came on campus August 2016
First Day on Campus: I was focused on making new friends and no falling
Classes: I really enjoyed Mr. Newell Social Work class
Any Clubs: I am apart of Spectrum as well as Social Work club
PV or GV: PV and I'm extremely annoyed right now
Where do you live?: I live off-campus with my boyfriend
What are you looking forward to in the future?: Graduating and starting my career

MN: As I've continued to do these interviews I've realized a few things. 1) That I need to start asking more hard-hitting questions, and 2) That people seem to respond better if you ask them deeper and more developing questions. That was the case today, when the questions were hard hitting, and they touched into a part of the college experience that they weren't expecting, the answers were deeper, and I could get more material out with them
TN: The interview was one of my middle of the pack ones, I quite enjoyed it the interview in its entirely, but there were point during the interview that it was clearly lacking. I wish I had more interesting questions in there about before they got to Montevallo, as that is where I'm having the most issues when it comes to the before Montevallo questions, as most people don't see to enjoy those as much, I'm hoping to find out why.
PN: So this interview took place at 8:30am on Friday, so I was a little bit exhausted when it came to my physical health. This interview also took place at a McDonalds, in which a nice old man was very talkative and was inquiring about why I was interview this person. It was a nice exchange, but it certainly set the interview astray. `
SN: She is from Selma High School, which is a small high school in Selma, Alabama in which not many people go to college. She heard about Montevallo through watching YouTube and she researched about the school. She went into school as a political science major, but she then changed over to social work major. She wanted to go to Auburn, but she fell in love with the campus, especially during college night. She came to campus August 2016 and she had a good first day here. She really enjoyed Dr. Newell social work class. Sje is involved in college night and she's a PV (which it is a depressing time for us). She used to live in Hanson, but now she lives off-campus with her boyfriend. She is excited for the future in graduating and starting her career. </text>

              <text>Interview 1

HS: Opelika High School, Suburban School, 55% go to college
Connections to UM: My mom went to UM in the 1980s, my mom best friend she met at UM
Thoughts about college: Parents always wanted me to go, there was not another option
How did you hear about Montevallo? My mom
Declared Major?: Business Marketing
Any fears about coming to Montevallo?: Being so far away from my parents
How was your first day: It was great, I only fell on the bricks 3 times!
Where do you live? I live in Main Hall, I quite like it but it gets really loud sometimes
Any clubs? I'm in Spectrum and College Democrats
PV or GV: I hate to break it to you man, but I'm GV
Do you wanna be involved in college night?: I hope to be on the Volleyball team next year
Favorite Class?: Even though I'm a marketing major, I really enjoyed Dr. Rozelle English 101 class
Impact: Montevallo has made me into a strong independent woman and I want to continue that for the next 3 years

Mnotes: This interview was another one that I really enjoyed. I took everything that I learned from the first few ones (the good and bad) and tried to turn it into a very rewarding experience. She was also a gracious interviewee and she made me feel relaxed and more like it was a conversation and not be interview. I wish I had to ask her more questions but unfortenanly she had class in 35 minutes so I decided to stick with the most important ones. Despite this shortcoming, I'd definitely call the interview a success.
TNotes: My theory on why the interview went so well is that she was very engaging interview. She was incredibly thoughtful and she gave me very good answers with her questions and I was able to ask her follow up questions about her answers. We were also in a very que space and we weren't having to deal with any outside noise. I also knew her beforehand and even though that has backfired in a couple of earlier situations it was not a cocern here.
PNotes: We were in the library so it was a very quiet spot and we weren't bothered. I had also just had a great meal at the one and only Taco Bell so I was feeling pretty good about my life when I was giving that interview so all went well. We were on very comfortable couches and as well as in a nice air-conditioned spot. I had just gotten my flu shot that day so I was feeling a tad strange in my body but it didn't really affect my performance when it came to the interview.
SNotes: We first started talking about what high school she went to, which was Opelika High School in Opelika, Alabama. It's a suburban school but onlt about 55% of students there end up going to college. She heard about Montevallo through her mom, who went there, and her mom's best friend who she met at Montevallo. Her parents always envisioned her going to school and she decided to be a major in marketing. Her fear about Montevallo was being so far away from home. She said her first day was great because she only fell on the bricks 3 times. She lives in Main Hall and she quite enjoys it there. She participates in Korean Culture Club and College Democrats, and shes a GV (to my dismay). She wants to play for the vollyball team next year. She concluded the interview by stating that Montevallo and turned into into a strong independent women and shes excitied for the years to come. </text>

<text>HS: John Caroll Freshman Year, afterwards Online School
Reasons to come to Montevallo: Size and Location
First Choice?: UAB was first choice
Parents: :Parents were supportive of college decision
How'd they find out about Montevallo: Always knew about it, and best friend's mom went here
Fears: Absolutely, hated commitment, signed 4-8 of my life away
LGBT?: Real gay, and this is a real gay school
When did you move in?: August 18th, 2017
First Day of school: Tripped 4 times, spilled 2 drinks, and missed class
Made you feel at home?: My best friend also went to this school
Places to hangout?: My room, and Farmer
Classes?: Classes were great, especially Verogona
Major: Undeclared, but become a sociology major because of Dr. Parker
Dropping out: Thinks about doing it 4 times a day, but wants to stay commitment
GV or PV: PV
Looking forward?: Looking forward into no longer being a freshman

MNotes: I didn't count on asking some of the questions that I did, especially about College Night. I also found myself talking a lot more about how they were accepted in high school and how that has transition into college. I want to ask more questions about personality and I think I need to spice up my interview schedule
TNotes: I wish I would of ask a lot more about their personality, especially because it was a really interesting person. We had a of back and forth about the subject but I forgot to ask any questions about it. I also wished a touched a little bit more on school and that part of the life of being at Montevallo.
PNotes: My butt was hurting a little from the position that I was in. That definitely distracted me a little from the conversation. I was a little hungry because I and a very early lunch and that distracted from my interview. Knowing the interview and him being in our class made the interview a lot more comfortable.
SNotes: The interview started off with me asking him about his high school days. We discussed how he was homeschool and that he wished he was in public school. We also discussed how UAB was originally his top choice but decided to go to Montevallo after his best friend decided to go here. Then we talked about Montevallo, and how the first day of classes for him were completely awful, but eased into it as time went by. We concluded with how Montevallo has impacted him positively and negatively in his life, and how he's decided to no longer be a freshman. </text>

Parents: Mom graduated, Dad went but didn't graduate
Friends: All were going to school, made her want to go to school as well
Major?: English/Education Major
UM first choice?: Considered Jeff State, but was set on Montevallo pretty early
Connections: Knew a few teachers, wanted to go to Montevallo, Moved to the town Sophomore year
College v High School: A little bit more Independence
Felt at home: After College
Fears?: Very reliant on her parents, Afriad to be let go
Friends from high school?: Still keeps in contact
First Day: Met up with a bunch of people from her high school
Person to trust: One friend that goes here, one that goes to Montevallo
College Class v. High School Class: Very strict, teachers don't let you act up
Clubs: Korean Culture Club
Hobbies: K-Pop, Games, favorite band is XO
Looking forward to in the future: excited about being more involved on campus
Commuting v living on campus: Slight better than living on campus is commuting, don't pay as much money.

MNotes: This interview was my favorite by far. Even though I didn't know her before I started to interview. I found the conversation utterly delightful to be a part of. She was engaged throughout the entire interview. Because she was so engaged in the interview and in the interview process, the questions were able to come naturally for me. So, I strayed a little bit from my interview schedule because I felt confident doing so, and it turned out it was the right idea. I need to hit on more in my other interviews more about being a student and Montevallo and dealing with classes and student social life. See my interview schedule evolve and seeing the other person engaged made me extremely happy.
TNotes: My theory on why this interview went so well was because I was able to step out of my comfort zone and just have a conversation which another person, I wasn't focused on all the little things that I was worried about in the first two interviews and I was just focused on being a person. She also was giving me very good answers that I could work with, and when someone gives you the material to do well it's hard not to.
PNotes: This was on the same day of the previous two interviews, but it wasn't as busy has it was in the beginning so there wasn't as much distraction as there was before. At this point in the day I was getting kind of tired, so it was getting harder and harder to focus on the conversation even though her being engaged in the conversation helped a ton. She was also a very nice person so that made the interview easier as well.
SNotes : She went on Montevallo High School, A small school in which a majority of the students went to college. Mom graduated but her dad didn't, but it was really her friends that wanted her to continue her education. She doesn't drive so a reason why she wanted to go to Montevallo was because she would need to be able to commute. She is a double major in both Enligsh and Education. She enjoys school because it's made it more independent, because as issue she had when deciding what school, she wanted to go to Jeff State as well but she thought Montevallo would be better for her. She still keeps in contact from her friend back in California where she is originally from. She apart of Korean Culture club and she's most excited about be more involved in school.

<text>School: Auburn High School, Pretty Large, Suburbs, about 60% of students go to college
Community: No Community effects on decision, no family or friends had effect on decision either.
Parents: Parents have no effect on decision, very hands off the process
First Choice: U.M was my first choice, Applied to other schools, Jacksonville State and North Alabama.
Hear about Montevallo?: Someone from another school spoke to me about Montevallo
When did you know you wanted to go here?: When I went on the tour, It just told me that I should be here.
Any Fears: Yes because I'm a very dependent person.
First Day: First day was okay, I was just focused on trying to move in.

Mnotes: Spoiler Alert: The person who I interviewed here was my sister. That certainly made making this interview a little bit more interesting. The hardest part about asking about the "Before Montevallo" questions was because I already know about her entire process. New questions that emerged was thinking how close people got from not going to the University of Montevallo. The only reason why my sister deciding to go to the University of Montevallo was because I was also going to the same school, so I want to add that to my schedule
TNotes: The Theory on why the interview didn't go so well was it's my sister. I knew pretty much everything about her. Knowing every about a person and pretty much having all the answers made it harder to get guanine answers from the person. Even though I got pretty good answers from her about some things like how her first day was because I didn't see her a lot that day, I also didn't to ask many questions because she had class.
PNotes: It was during the same time of the interview number one so all of the same issues I had In that interview also trickled down to this interview. Also, Asha (my sister) kept trying to make me laugh and therefore I wasn't 100% focused on the interview than I probably should have been.

SNotes: She went an Auburn High School, which is a large school in which about 60% of students end up going to college. There was no effect on her college decision on anyone expect her brother. U.M was her first choice even though she did consider Jacksonville State and North Alabama. She found out about Montevallo through another school. She realized Montevallo was her home when she went on the Campus Tour. The main thing she was afraid about the going to Montevallo is that she is a very dependent person. Her first day in school was alright, as she spent most of her time trying to get ready for school and finding a social standing. </text>

<text>1 HS: Center of the Creative Arts/Sorta-Loud/College Driven/Doesn't Know what percentage went to school
2 How you here about Montevallo: A lot of people from my school came here
3. Parents: First Generation College Student/Parents wanted her to go to a small school/Parents reacted favorably to Montevallo
4. Montevallo First Choice? First was MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University), but parents wanted her to go to a small school
5. What made you come to Montevallo?: The size of the school and the atmosphere
6. Fear about coming to school: Having to be on my own and make decisions for myself.
7. First Day on Campus: Pretty good, it was nervous at first but I met a lot of good people and it made the transition easier
8. How does it feel to live in Main: It's good, it's a really good community of girls
9. Are you greek?: Yes I'm Adi Phi
10: Why did you decide to go Greek?: In the beginning I did not want to go Greek, but after going to the events on campus and meeting a bunch of the girls I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone
Field Notes
Mnotes: This being my first interview my method was to originally ask easy and simple questions in the beginning. What surprised me about this method is my interviewee got really bored in the beginning and therefore in kind of threw the rest of the interview off It's game. Even though we eventually got to the more hard-hitting questions about life at Montevallo, she wasn't all that interested towards the end and that killed the interview on a sour note, hence why I only got about 10 questions.
TNotes: Why do I think the interview went the way it did? The interview was kind of sprung on her, because I wanted to get a couple of interviews under my belt. Even though I originally thought this would be a good idea, it didn't so as well as I originally hoped. Another reason why I didn't think the interview so as well as I originally hoped was because her best friend came in midway through the interview and she was more focused on talking to her friend.
PNotes: We did the interview in Farmer, so obviously there was sound the in building and that created a bit of a distraction. I was also eyeing Moes the entire tine because I wasn't able to grab any dinner. I was also dealing with a slight headache, so I was a little distracted in that sense as well.
SNotes: We started the interview talking about her high school days and hoe her parents wanted her to go to a small school. Once of the reasons why she didn't go to the first choice, which was MTSU. She is a first-generation college student. The main reason she decided to go to Montevallo was the size of the campus. Her big fears about her going to Montevallo was that she would finally be on her own and she would have to make decisions for herself. Her first day onS campus was spent meeting new friends and settling into the atmosphere. Her biggest decisions that she mad in college was to go Greek, she wanted to push herself out of her comfort zone which was the reason she decided to give it a shot.
