<text>HS: Hoover High School, massive, about 55% ended up going to school
Parents: It was college or bust for me, no other option
First Choice: My original first choice was Alabama, but Montevallo offered me more money and my family isn't very wealthy
Hear about UM: I saw an advertisement on Instagram
Community: My girlfriend wanted me to stay in Birmingham so bad, but I had to get away
Fears: Missing home and not liking the small-time college
Arrived: I arrived on campus this past August
Classes: I quite enjoy my Biology class even those it is extremely difficult
Clubs: I'm apart of Spectrum and well as College Democrats, I'm the gayest women you'll ever see in your life
GV or PV: PV and I'm still pissed that we lost, we should of won expect for that f**cking judge
Residence: I live in Hanson hall, it's alright but Delta Gamma is loud AF
Favorite Moment: Getting my first A on my math test, I actually cried
Impact: College has made me be even more gay than I am now and I love it
Future: I cant wait to get my Math Degree and go to graduate school back at UAB

MN: This may have been the strangest person I've ever interviewed for this class. She was loud, brash, hyper, she may have been on some type of drug, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. This was thee first time I also had to bleep out interview and leave stuff off the log (very nasty things we said ) . Despite all of the R-rated content I wasn’t able to use in my log, she really seemed to enjoy herself and she was very excited about having the chance to tell her story, as crazy as it is.
TN: I think a reason why the interview went so well is because she was so crazy it somehow worked. The answers were crazy and so out of left-field at times but somehow it made perfect sense. You wouldn't expect her to be a math major either, so that is another interesting thing about the whole ordeal. She also was 100% focused on me and the interview because she did not want to mess anything up and make me angry
PN: She was an utter delight to be around and we are gonna start to hang around each other much more. She had a vape and even though she was focused she would blow the vape at times and that would make the environment smell a little strange. This interview took place right after I had dinner from the caf so I was full AF.
SN: She is from Hoover High School, which is one of the biggest schools in Alabama, and about 55% of students go to college. She wanted to go to Alabama but Montevallo offered her more money and the school fit her style more. Her parents said it was college or bust for her. Her girlfriend wanted her to go to UAB and stay in Birmingham but she had to get out and see something else. She was a bit worried about the small-town feel. She arrived here this past fall and she loved her Political Science class, she is in college Democrats and Spectrum, and is a hardcore PV. She lives in Hanson, which she says it is school but Delta Gamma is really loud. Her favorite moment so far is getting her first A on her math exam (which is her major). She thinks Montevallo has made her more gay than she already is, and she is excited to get her degree and go back home for her Masters.

<text>I was also able to interview Julio Guity. During the interview he told me his real reason for coming to Montevallo was because he was able to get a full ride scholarship. Although that was important for him, he has experienced many things while attending Montevallo that has given him reason to stay. He is from California, he says he enjoys California more but he has no regrets for coming to Al. Even though he misses his family he is not sure if going back home after graduation is something he wants yet. College has even more opportunities than he imagined it would have, says that it has changed him. He admitted that before coming to school he never thought he would leave his home. Says College has given him courage to do things that are out of his comfort zone no matter the outcome. He plays on the basketball team, hoping to be able to continue his basketball career after school is finished. Even though he says he won’t be upset if he is unable to play professional ball but believes it would be a blessing for him if he does. He just wants to make his family proud that is his motivation to keep going hard everyday with school and his basketball career.

<text>HS: SMICA, very small, graduating class of about 30 people, Everyone went to college
Take a year off: Didn’t know what I wanted to do, had to pay my own way
Where did you work at?: Chick Fl La
Major: Early Education, my mom majored in the same thing
First Choice: Auburn but it was too much money so I went to Montevallo instead
Parents: Mom was thrilled about UM, Dad not so much
Fears: Failure
First Day: Little Overwhelming, classes back to back, but also kinda calming
Clubs: I don’t do anything on campus, I feel so detached
GV or PV: GV but I also love Purple Side
Hobbies: Trying to stay alive
Why Early Ed?: My mom and my aunt are both teachers
Staying?: Will probably be here all 4 years of college
Favorite Non-Major Class?: Politcal Science and Psychology
Impact: It's helping me get a feel for what I want to do for the rest of my life.

MN: This interview was not as great as the first one, She just didn't seem that interested at all in the process and only did it because I asked her to and she didn’t want to go back on the offer. She was nice and gave relatively decent answers, but you could tell that she just wanted the experience to be over. It made questions I ask be more boring and uninspiring because she wasn't all that into the experience anyway and it really killed my mood. I tried to do the I can from what I was given, but it was what I expected my interviews to be at this point
TN: Even though the interview was uneventful, this was the first time that I interviewed someone who had taken a gap year right after high school. So I was able to ask new questions based off of that tidbit of information. The theory on why I think the interview did not go as well as I planned was because I think I waited to long to actually commence the interview than when I asked it, because there was about an one week span in-between, and I think that had something to do with killing the buzz for the interview.
PN: As I stated before, the interview did not go as well as I thought. Another reason why is that this interview may have taken place at the worst time possible, right in the middle of rush hour at Moes, so it was loud and crowded and my hearing is already really, really bad at times. I was also broke and people were eating Moes around me so that was hella distracting and made it really hard to focus on the interview. I also was getting over a really bad cold so that messed with me as well.
SN: She is from a school called SMICA near Hoover, Alabama. It was one of the smallest schools in the area with her graduating class only being 30 people, and everyone went to college. She took a year off school and worked at Chick Fl La to figure out what she wanted to do with their life. Her first choice was to go to Auburn, but she settled on Montevallo because of money. Her mom (who is an alumni) was excited about her daughter going to Montevallo but her dad was not. Her major is Early Education. Her fear was failing out of school and having to go back and work at her old job. Her first day here was overwhelming but also calming as well. She is not involved on campus due to her class load, but she does consider herself a gold. Her favorite non-major classes with Psychology and Political Science. She thinks she's going to stay here all 4 years and she is excited to see what the future as in store. </text>

He was shocked to say but has realized that he enjoys being in the U.S more, well maybe its just the school that has him feeling this way. He left his parents and younger sister behind to continue his dream of becoming an accountant. Even though college has been a new experience for him, he says that it has not changed him. Standing strong on his thoughts that college won’t change him because he knew who he was before coming. He plays for the soccer team, so during the little spare time he has it study time. The opportunity to go to school was something he was not sure he would get so taking it for granted is not an option for him. </text>

<text>In my first interview I spoke with Kyle Enkelmann. The sophomore came from Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada. While he was in Canada he attended Terry Fox was Secondary School where he graduated. Although he loves his home, he was happy to experience a new environment. Being in college has been a great experience so far, he says it has changed him for the better. Good or bad it has made him grow up and become more responsible because he knows he does not have anyone to bail him out of trouble times. Also it has taught him how to cook, well small thing he says because he is not the biggest fan of the café. Secretly he misses his mom’s cooking although he will not admit that to her. Even though his mother influenced him to go to college, his choice to come to Montevallo was one he made on hisself. While attending Montevallo he also plays lacrosse for the school. He said he does not get a full ride scholarship but his parents were prepared for him to go to school so he also does not have to take out any loans at least for now. </text>

Community: Teachers pushed us to be our very best and go to college
Parents: Mom always wanted me to go to school
Learn about UM: I learned about UM through my Mom, who was an alumni here
First Impression?: I fell in love with the campus
Major: Buisness but I don’t know what I want to do with it, I may end up opening up a shop
Biggest Support: My older sister had the biggest impact on me going to college
Fears?: Very much a family person, so I'd have to learn to take care of myself
Arrive on Campus?: August 2017
First Day: Terrifying, so many people and I didn’t know who any of them were
Classes?: I loved it, Dr. Day was a really awesome professor
Clubs: I'm in CCM, Catholic Campus Minstries, helped shape how I see people and how they are different
GV or PV: Gold
Why?: I couldn’t picture myself not being a gold
Resdience: I live in Main and I love it, people who live here really make it seem like home
Perfect Day: Reading a book on Main Quad or watching Netflix
See yourself here all 4 Years?: Right now I see myself staying here
Impact: It really took me out of my shell
Future: Graduating and figuring out what I want to do for my life.
MN: This interview was with a classmate that I knew and had spoken to before, but I really did not know much about her until this interview. I did not know that she was such a interesting person and had all the aspirations and goals. The reason why the interview went so well is because the sheer surprise that I had about her, and it pushed me to inquire about her further. She was also fully engaged with the interview at all times and I was not struggling for her attention.
TN: The theory on why this interview went so well as to do with the fact that she wanted the interview to be great just like I want it to be. She was engaged the entire time and was even asking questions about the interview herself, wanting to make sure she gave the best possible answer for the interview, so it will work well in my paper. Also we were in a very quiet space so there were very little distractions around us when it comes to the interview.
PN: I was conducting this interview in the Main Hall lounge area, so it was extremely quiet, and it was very easy to focus on what she was saying. This interview did take place after the 3 classes, so I was tired, and I was ready to get some rest before the rest of my day commenced. I was also dealing with some mid-day hunger, but I was incredibly poor and had no money to get food on that day.
SN: She is from John Carroll High School, a small school in which the teachers pushed on the kids to make sure they go to college. Her mom wanted her to go to UM and she fell in love with the campus and soon as she got here. She is a business major though she does not quite know what she wants to do with that yet. Her sister had the biggest impact on her going to college, even though she was excited, she was nervous about having to be on her own for the first time. Her first day was terrifying as she did not know anyone, but it got easier for her when classes started because Dr. Day. She is apart of CCM (Campus Catholic Ministries) as well as a Gold side member. She lives in Main and she absolutely loves it. She thinks Montevallo has made her come out her shell and she is excited about graduating and figuring out what she wants to do with her life.
