Description

This is a picture of Sir Robert Peel he was the Prime Minister of England when the Irish Potato Famine began in 1845. He tried multiple tactics to aid Ireland with the relief measures. He is the most famous for the Corn Law reforms where he shipped Indian Corn Maize to Ireland for them to purchase at a low cost. He also tried to have work for the Irish by establishing a public works program. He was forced to resign in 1846 when his Corn Law reform program failed.
