Title

Dolly's Home Run Ball

Date

August 25, 1952

Description

The baseball depicted is a home run ball hit by Delores “Dolly” Brumfield White during the 1952 season. Delores began playing in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League at the age of 14. She played seven seasons in the league from 1947 to 1953. During the 1952 season Delores played for the Fort Wayne Daisies. This baseball is especially significant because it is the only home run ball hit by Delores during the 1952 season. The home run ball was hit off of Jean Marlowe of the Kalamazoo Lassies. The Baseball is signed by the players of the Fort Wayne Daisies and their Baseball Hall of Fame manager Jimmie Foxx. Jimmie Foxx played in the majors from 1925 to 1945. He is a three time American League MVP, two time world champion, and the winner of the 1933 Triple Crown. His Hall of Fame stats include a lifetime .325 battling average and 534 career home runs.
