Description
These are a few of the documents which show the school's budgets and reports prior to the closing of the dairy. Although there is no clear explanation as to why it was closed or when it was even discussed, the reports suggest it was due to financial reasons.
Between 1957-1958, the dairy ended up going over its budget of $23,000. To meet the demands of the dairy's expenses, the budget for the dairy between 1958-1959 was increased to $26,700. Considering the dairy was created to lesson the costs of shipping in milk and also to create extra revenue from surplus milk being sold to people off of campus, the dairy was no longer serving the campus as effectively as it once had.
