This South Bend Blue Sox uniform was worn by Dolores “Dolly” White who played on the team from 1947-1948 where she would go on to join the Kenosha Comets from 1948-1951. During the time she played for the Blue Sox she was only fifteen years old and was a utility infielder/outfielder. It was during her time on this team that she gained her nickname “Dolly”. In the Blue Sox, Dolly was managed by Chet Grant, a former Notre Dame assistant football coach. Her team also finished fourth out of eight teams with a 57-54 record. Playing in 39 games, she had a .117 batting average.
