Description

Constructed in 1929, Thomas Waverly Palmer Hall (named after the university's third president) serves a variety of functions. It houses several of the University of Montevallo's administrative offices, most notably the registrar's office, and is also home to the Palmer Auditorium.

The 1,200-seat Auditorium serves most notably as a stage for the famous Homecoming tradition of College Night, which has been hosted there since 1930. The auditorium also plays host to celebrations and events concerning Founders' Day, Honors Day, and Fall Commencement.

In 1979, Palmer Hall underwent extensive renovation, after falling into a state of disrepair over the fifty years since its initial construction. In addition to the refitting of the auditorium's seats and the restoration of the stage and orchestra pit, this renovation also saw the installation of a large, intricately-designed Holtkamp pipe organ in the auditorium.
