Creator

Description

This is a Republican poster in support of the IRA. The poster advises people living in Republican areas that their conversations could be monitored by security forces. While it may not have been intended there is also an implied threat of what would happen to anyone who did not heed the advice. In the secretive organization, the Provisional Irish Republican Army was dependent on the citizens to help hide their identities from the authorities. Young people were even tarred and feather for fraternizing with the British officers who patrolled the neighborhoods.
