Description
This photo depicts a 1938 art class receiving instruction in clay modeling. Jeter hall was built in 1915 as an elementary school. It contained six classrooms, an auditorium, a music room, two storage rooms, a cafeteria, and one toilet. It functioned as a Education Laboratory School for students of Montevallo. Future teachers could practice their skills while observing qualified instructors. During the 1930's, lower elementary grades were housed in this building. This consists of kindergarten, first, and second grade students. By 1965, the building no longer served the needs of the community. Renovated with college labor, the building transformed into the social sciences building, adding classrooms and private offices for instructors. First social science classes were held February 5, 1965.
