Description
One important thing President Palmer did during his tenure as president was to address several safety issues that acquired a sense of urgency in the wake of a 1908 fire in Main Hall that tragically killed a student named Condie Cunningham. This disaster gave him the leverage he needed to get the Board of Trustees to appropriate money for the construction of fire escapes as well as a water tower.
